How Many Les Gets Activities Can You Squeeze Into A Week?

Les Gets comes alive in the winter, offering a diverse range of activities and snow sports to cater to every type of winter enthusiast (non-skiers included). Whether you’re craving a soothing massage or the exhilaration of driving through the forest on a skidoo, this charming alpine destination has it all.

Here is a list of some of the most popular activities Les Gets has to offer…

Ice Skating

Located right in the heart of Les Gets, the village ice rink is the perfect place for a romantic skate under the stars or some family fun in beautiful alpine surroundings before dinner. The ice rink is open every day depending on weather conditions, and skate hire is available for children (from size 26) and adults.

Husky Sleigh Ride

Get a taste of Alaska on a husky-powered sledge whilst taking in the breathtaking mountain scenery. Dog sledding began in Canada and Alaska where, in the far north, people were dependent on their dogs for protection, companionship, hunting, trapping and, most of all, transportation.  A true Alpine experience. 

What you need to know:
  • Daily tours are available weather permitting
  • Minimum age 7

Caroline's Alpine Farm

This traditional Alpine farm opens its doors from mid-December onwards to watch the milking of the goats.

What you need to know:

  • Organic farm produce for sale (cheese, yogurts etc.) from 16:00 - 19:00 (closed on Sunday and Tuesday)
  • Stall at the Les Gets market on Thursday mornings
  • Fondue lunch at the Mouille Ronde mountain pasture chalet (minimum 10 people)

Tobogganing

Whether you fancy a bit of post-skiing fun with the children or you're looking for an outdoor activity for the little ones, sledging is always a hit. Create lasting memories and enjoy the beautiful winter landscape together.

What you need to know:

  • There are 5 dedicated sledging runs in Les Gets. Vieux-Chêne, Chavannes, Perrières (for children 6 and over), Lac des Ecoles and Boule de Gomme
  • Helmets are recommended
  • Sledges available in the majority of our chalets

Milka Purple Slope

All along the “Gentiane” slope, from the arrival point of the Chavannes cable car, the purple Milka slope is a fun ski run to help introduce beginners to the alpine environment. Life-size fibreglass animals and displays provide visual information about animal and plant life for children. 

What you need to know:

  • The Purple Cow comes along during the French school holidays to liven up the slope and hand out chocolates!

Snowmobile/Skidoo

Once the ski lifts have closed for the day, why not explore the snowy trails by snowmobile? After a detailed safety briefing from your instructor, you'll soon find yourself cruising along, enjoying the excitement of being in control of your own skidoo. If your kids are keen to have a go too, electric snowmobiling sessions are available for children aged 5-14 at the Mountain E-Park.

What you need to know (E-Park):

  • Located between the Lac des Ecoles and the blue "Gentiane" slope, under the "Chavannes Express" chairlift
  • Open from 10:00 - 17:00, 3 days a week (Thursday, Friday and Sunday) outside school holidays and 6 days a week during school holidays (closed on Saturdays)
  • 20-minute beginner session from 5 years old: €25
  • 1-hour lesson from 6 years old: €70
  • Maximum height: 1.6 m
  • Ski or snow boots accepted

Skydiving

For the ultimate thrill-seeking challenge, why not try jumping out of a helicopter with just a parachute (and an instructor if you’re a beginner) strapped to your back to catch your fall?! On a clear and sunny day, the views are breath taking – an absolute must for any adrenaline junkie! If you’re looking for some Les Gets activities in summer, we’d definitely recommend trying your hand at skydiving.

What you need to know:
  • From age 12
  • Minimum height 1.4 m

Paragliding

Take to the skies for an adventure that combines tranquillity and pure freedom. Tandem paragliding is an experience that can be enjoyed in many stunning locations around the world, but there's something undeniably special about flying up above the Alps.

What you need to know:
  • Flights are 10 - 15 minutes long, depending on conditions
  • From €80 per person
  • Warm clothing required
  • Maximum weight: 90 kg

Walking & Snowshoeing

Snowshoeing in the Alps is like stepping into a winter fairy tale. It's a gentle way to connect with nature, all while taking in the stunning mountain views. Whether you're an experienced hiker or new to outdoor adventures, it's a magical way to experience the mountains. However, to truly immerse yourself in this awe-inspiring natural setting, we recommend joining a guided trek. Your instructor will lead you to their favourite spots far from the hustle and bustle of crowds. You might even see a marmot or ibex if you’re lucky!

What you need to know:

  • 'Walking, Cross-country skiing and Snowshoeing maps' are available from the Tourist Office or you can ask your chalet host for more information

Hand-Crafted Pottery

If you enjoy trying new crafts on holiday or are looking for a special gift, then Anouk's pottery studio is not to be missed! You’ll find a wide variety of decorative and practical creations made on-site by Anouk and if you'd like to try your hand at pottery, she offers beginner sessions in her studio.

What you need to know:

  • Shop open from 09:00 - 12:00 and 14:00 - 18:00 Monday to Friday
  • Beginner workshops take place on Monday mornings from 10:00 - 12:00
  • New creations are glazed, fired and returned the following Friday

The Perrières Cheese Dairy

The Fruitière is the place where milk is turned into cheese, where the fruit of the milk is collected, hence the word fruitière. Every day, Reblochon, Tomme, butter, yogurts and Abondance are produced.

What you need to know:

  • Enjoy a free guided tour to see the cheese being made every Wednesday at 09:00

Mechanical Music Museum

Housed in one of the oldest buildings in Les Gets, the gallery offers an immersive experience across its five themed rooms. Each room explores a unique aspect of music or musical history. Carillon bells, pendulums and music-boxes, orchestra scores and violins, mechanical and wind pianos, phonographs and gramophones are all on display.

What you need to know:

  • Open from 14:00 - 19:00 (closed on Saturday)
  • Guided tours last approximately 1 hr 15 minutes
  • Free with multi-pass

Brewery Tour and Tastings (Morzine)

During the winter season from mid-December to mid-April, the Ibex Brewery are opening our doors every Thursday evening for a Brewery Tour and Tastings! Discover the story and evolution of IBEX, the way the beers are brewed and how they approach different beer styles. Following the tour, you will be introduced to five of the beers on tap in the bar! You may be tempted to stay for dinner at The Wood Yard (taproom bar and restaurant)...

What you need to know:

  • Located at the bottom of the Montriond hill (a short taxi ride from Les Gets)
  • Brewery tour and tastings last approximately 1 hr
  • Two time slots are available on Thursday evenings - one at 17:30 and one at 19:30
  • Tour and beer tasting is €20, tour and beer with tapas is €30
  • If you decide to stay for dinner, we will offer a 5% discount on their evening menu

Massage Therapists

At VIP SKI, we understand the importance of relaxation and rejuvenation during your holiday. Mountain Rehab offer a comprehensive mobile massage service that brings qualified therapists directly to your chalet bedroom. Their highly trained masseurs are skilled in providing treatments that alleviate muscle soreness and restore your energy levels so that you can make the most of your precious week’s holiday with us. Please ask your Chalet Host for the full range of treatments and prices.

What you need to know:

  • Appointments can be booked at a time of your choice
  • From €45
  • Book a therapist for four and a half hours and split the time between you as you like in your chalet

Bowling

Located on the main high street in Les Gets, this small ten-pin bowling alley & bar is perfect on bad weather days and a fun place to go with a group.

What you need to know:
  • Open every day in summer and winter from 16:00 (from 14:00 if it's raining)
  • Make sure you book your bowling in advance, especially if the weather is not good!
  • 2 lanes, a bar, 2 pool tables and a dart board
  • French and English football matches are also shown

Cinema

The cinema in Les Gets offers a diverse selection of films presented in both French and English. This is a fun way to pick up a few new French phrases. Of course, the practicality of these phrases might vary based on the type of film you choose to watch!

What you need to know:
  • When you see 'VO,' it stands for 'Version Originale,' indicating the film will be shown in its original language, potentially with French subtitles ('sous titres')
