Why we love La Plagne

POSTED:

La Plagne named world’s favourite ski resort…

We often feel the fabulous high altitude resort, La Plagne, with its huge ski area doesn’t get the credit it deserves. However, La Plagne was recently named the world’s most popular ski resort by an annual industry report and here at VIP SKI, we’re not surprised.

Over the last couple of years, La Plagne has enticed the highest number of visitors to its ski slopes and we think it’s easy to understand why…

Here are our top 5 reasons why La Plagne gets our vote…

1 - It may not be the prettiest ski resort but the skiing will not disappoint…

La Plagne sits at an altitude of 2000m and the highest point reached 3250m. La Plagne is pretty much snow sure and boasts 160 lifts and 425 km of pistes.

2 - Complete convenience…

La Plagne has to be the perfect choice for mixed ski ability groups. Intermediates and experts can explore the huge area, whist beginners can literally fall out of bed and be on the beginner slopes. With our chalets overlooking the piste and with 152 green/blue (beginner) runs, learning to ski has never been easier.

3 - Lots to keep you entertained…

If you’re looking for a resort with more than just skiing, La Plagne has plenty on offer to keep even the most adventurous amused… try your hand at cross country skiing or snow shoeing, go Husky sledging, Ice climbing, paragliding, snowmobiling, or how about dinner in an igloo?   If adrenalin rushes and new thrills are what get you going, maybe you'd be interested to go down the most technical bobsleigh piste in the world? The speed record is 134 kph so it's certainly not for the faint hearted!

4 - A challenge for the expert skier…

If you’re looking for a true skiing challenge how about the Tarentaise tour? This is a full day’s skiing, discovering the legendary off-piste of the Vanoise and Tarentaise Valley through the resorts of Tignes, La Plagne, Les Arcs and Villaroger. 6km of vertical descent this really is a challenge for expert skiers only.

5 - Fun Après ski…

La Plagne may not be renowned for its après scene but there are a few really great bars perfect for a tipple at the end of a hard days skiing. Our new favourite is Bar Fort Colorado, found right on the piste in front of our chalets this is a perfect place to enjoy a beverage.

If reading this has intrigued you, and you're now considering the resort of La Plagne for your next ski holiday, check out our La Plagne chalets.

With prices from £729 per person you'd be mad not to.
