Fancy skiing over February half-term or Easter but worried your teenagers have exams?
It’s such a hard call. A Levels or GCSE’s coming up in a few weeks’ time but you can’t help thinking a ski break might do them good? After all, they can always work in the morning, or maybe just in the afternoon?
On the other hand, how can you go away when they should be revising, they’ve only got one shot at it, but the snow is great? Ahhhhhh…
Those of us with older children have all been through the dilemma so, this year, we're taking bleisure working locations to the next level to accommodate our teen guests in Val d'Isere!
Dedicated Revision Pod in Val d'Isere
For two weeks in February and three weeks over Easter, our conference room in No 3&4 CLUB Bellevarde in Val d'Isere becomes a dedicated study room with six workstations that you can reserve for quiet study. You don’t have to use it, you might be more comfortable at the desk in your bedroom or at the dining room table while everyone's out for the day but it’s there if you need it. There is a ‘quiet’ rule in this room so nothing to disturb you. The WiFi is outstanding.
Study Tip - Eat Well And Exercise
Busy minds need feeding so complimentary tea, coffee, fruit, water and cordials are available throughout the day in the Revision Pod and of course, the delicious homemade afternoon tea later in the day.
A Precious Week In The Mountains
We can't guarantee your exam results but we can certainly provide a quiet place to work and a revision sanctuary allowing the whole family to enjoy a precious week together in the mountains.
Exercise Increases Focus and Concentration
According to Birmingham City University, as well as reducing anxiety and stress, "exercise improves memory retention by releasing endorphins, which has been shown to improve memory and boost your brain-building hormones". Studies show that regular exercise helps "razor-sharpen your focus which is great for those long revision sessions or particularly complex exam questions".
As luck would have it, our Revision Pod in Val d'Isere is a stone's throw away from the piste, making it extra easy to get out on the slopes for a quick lunchtime ski when the lifts are quieter so that your teen's brain can do its thing!
A revision day on a ski holiday could look something like this...
08:00 - 08:45 - Hearty cooked breakfast in your chalet to set them up for the day
09:00 - 12:00 - Morning revision session
12:00 - 14:45 - Olympique or Solaise bubble lift for a quick blast down the Face or Solaise to blow away the cobwebs
15:00 - 16:15 - Afternoon revision session
16:30 - 17:30 - Last lift up for a quick end of day ski run or two
18:00 - 19:00 - Early evening revision session before dinner with the family
Tip: If you ask nicely, your Chalet Host might be able to wrap you up a sandwich to maximise time on the mountain.
Or for the night owls who find their study groove when everyone else has retired for the evening, you'll be pleased to hear that our Revision Pod is open in the evenings too...
