Suite Baloo

Bear Lodge is a fantastic location in Arcs 1950, ski in and ski out and a couple of minutes on foot to the village. The hotel is very clean and new and the pool and spa area I would give a 5/5. The bar is a little bland and lacks charm as did the dining room where we were not eating as we ate in our chalet apartment. The advertising blurb mentions a cinema room and it looked nice with big sofas but if it was every used for adults, we certainly weren't informed about it. Our chalet (Baloo) was extremely nice and very well designed - somebody had really thought where to put the plug points and there were plenty of nice touches. Our chalet girl was lovely (as were all the staff) and cooked well. Breakfast was very good but the evening menu weren't fantastic (and that's wasn't the cooking but the menu) - starters were over sized - it was like having two main meals - and just not that great and some odd main meals such as slow cooked lamb on a flat bread (more greek taverna than upmarket chalet) and the pudding on the last night was crossants with a sauce and ice-cream - more like the left overs being used up. If we don't return it will because of the menu not being good enough for what you are paying. The wine included was also not great. All in all, VIP seemed to be a well run company, good staff and Bear Lodge great - just put a bit more money into the chalet food please!

Thank you for a perfect trip, there was not a thing to complain about. Suite Baloo catered perfectly for our needs (four adults and one child). Well equipped, clean, spacious enough (although probably would suggest removing a couple of dining chairs when not at capacity) The location is ideal, genuine ski in, ski out. On arrival we sorted ski hire in minutes (in the boot room on site) and were ready to go the following morning. Eve was an excellent host, very friendly and welcoming, chatty/engaging and informative about the local area and slopes! Also a superb cook and baker, some of those baked treats were incredible! She also managed to cater for fussy eaters and those with dietry requirements. Thank you Eve, you were a big hit particularly with Blake. Ellie also did a great job on the day Eve had off. I was impressed by VIP from the moment we booked but the execution in resort was faultless. As an aside we did book and pay for Bear Cubs but didn't end up using the service but would highly recommend to other parents based on what we saw and heard when in resort. Thank you again for an excellent trip.

We had such a lovely week in Arc 1950. Good quality 4 person chalets are really hard to find so we were delighted with what we found in Suite Baloo. It really is a lovely chalet and we were very well looked after by our brilliant chalet hosts Eve and Annabelle. We have all said that we can't wait to come back next year :)

This was the 2nd time we visited Bear lodge & we loved every minute. Our chalet host Eve was fantastic & she really looked after us well. The food was delicious & in fact she was the best chalet host we have ever had on our ski holidays, organised efficient & very conscientious. The whole experience from when we booked our trip to our departure was well organised, & all of the staff were polite, professional, positive & had a smile on their face, it made our whole experience a delight. Bear lodge is in an ideal position, & the ski in ski out location is spot on. It is very well appointed & was extremely comfortable, & as it’s fairly new was a pleasure to stay in, it felt like ‘home away from home’. Hopefully we will return again soon & loved our experience with VIP SKI, thank you!

Truly one of the best VIP ski experiences we have had and we enjoy VIP Ski every time. The service was impeccable, food was amazing, nothing was too much to ask for and all the staff including the Nannie’s were incredibly friendly and helpful. Outstanding facilities and extremely well run lodge. We had a disappointing experience with inter sport , I would advise you don’t hire your equipment from them , we were scammed and found them to be rude and unaccommodating. VIP ski need to review their relationship with inter sport that operate from within their building. Everything from VIP was amazing and we will definitely book with VIP again!

We stayed in Suite Baloo as 2 families, each with 2 adults, a 6 and a 3 yr old. The whole trip really was fantastic - this was the first ski trip for our children, and the set up of Bear Lodge really made it all seamless. From the transfers, to having ski rental in the building, to the fantastic nannies in Bear Cubs (our kids loved Daisy!) and the way they liaised with ski school - it was all extremely slick. We really did have a great time and the chalet/apartment itself was clean and a great space. If we were to offer 2 areas for improvement they would be: 1) On the website the floor plan for Baloo shows a curtain dividing the kids bunk area from the main bedroom, this in fact was not there which definitely made it harder for the kids and grown ups to sleep. 2) Whilst the food and chalet hosting was great, it was very noisy, smelly and often smokey when there was cooking in the chalet, which made it quite hard to relax in the living space pre-dinner every day.

We were at Balu for the second year running. The first year was excellent. This year the facilities were equally good, and Marc (resort manager)was fist class. However, compared to last year the Chalet hosting was poor, to the extent that we are holding off re-booking for next year. Will was a very pleasant chap, but i feel his training must have been far poorer than Megan (our host last year) had received, The attention to detail, punctuality, catering and overall standards were far lower. VIP have always been a top class provider, but this year the standard was no better than average. As a result we are thinkingof going to a self catering apartment next year. Sorry to be negative. I do not thik it is all Will's fault, more a fault of poor training and understanding the requirements of VIP guests, certainly comprared to last year.

Will is a very attentive, polite host, he cooks very well, he was always available for our requests and I hope that other families have this experience with him.

This was our first time with VIP Ski and we were all very impressed both with the UK office staff, whilst booking the holiday, and the staff in resort. Bear Lodge has excellent facilities and a perfect slope side location. The accommodation was to a very high standard - just perfect for our 2 families of 4. Our chalet host, Mimi, was fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble and her cooking was superb. Thank you for looking after us! We all loved the holiday from start to finish and we’ll definitely be back next season.

Grace, our host, was a joy. Tasty breakfasts, delicious afternoon cakes and wonderfully tailored evening meals (vegetarian for our party of 4). Ski in, ski out was as described with direct access to two high capacity chair lifts. We enjoyed skiing across the whole area, including La Plagne on a couple of days. The heated lockers ensured dry boots every day. Grace organised massages in the spa as an extra treat.

We cannot rate this holiday highly enough. The whole experience from start to finish could not have been more enjoyable or stress free. As a family with 3 young children (8,5 and 2) every last detail has been Considered to make the trip as easy as possible. Our suite was on the same floor as the piste exit and children's club and could not have been easier. We were able to ski long days without any concern or worries about any of the children. Megan our chalet host was exceptional, kind, friendly, efficient and continually went above and beyond to ensure we had a great trip. Charlotte was a fantastic nanny who immediately put the children at ease. Her and the whole childcare team looked after our children beautifully and even hosted a pyjama cinema evening and babysat when we needed. We will be booking again without a doubt. Thanks to the whole VIP ski team!

Amazing holiday! Great chalet - spacious, nice modern decor. Excellent location - ski in/ out with big boot room. Ski hire on site which was very convenient - great quality equipment. Fab chalet girl, Megan - friendly, very accommodating (especially with kids), great food (very varied). Great childcare option at the Bear Club - Charlotte was a big hit with our girls and kept us updated with their adventures while we were out on the slopes! Amazing holiday - look forward to coming again next year!

Fantastic accommodation. Good size rooms with lovely en-suites. Plenty of hot water. Food of a very high standard and plenty of it. A lovely chalet girl (Meghan) and the Bear club was a big success with the 2 year old twins in our party Ski in/out with good sized boot room/locker and ski hire equipment the best we’ve ever had. Les Arcs has a lot going for it and really don’t know why we haven’t been here before! We’ll be back! Hopefully next year

Hi Comments below: Overall, an excellent experience (apart from a few minor points detailed below) - the new Bear Lodge building and facilities were excellent and the staff very friendly and professional. Our chalet host, Megan, was delightful, and a pleasure to talk to. All the meals were well cooked, the cakes superb, and the rooms spotlessly clean. Full marks! The ski-in / ski-out is excellent - this advantage is not to be sniffed at! Few wall mounted racks near the door would help stack skis before exiting by the door? Overall, excellent accommodation and service. Minor points for noting/improvement: The "book a slot to fit your skis" clearly doesn't work as when told to come right down the queue was huge...either you stick to a time slot system of first come first served...? The bus transfer "loo-stop" on the way back was not good (layby on a busy road with a small bakery...). Better chose the bus station like on the way up to Arc 1950? Ski passes - my biggest gripe...here's the story. Paid for Paradiski full pass at £285 x4 (which EXCLUDED assurance) before leaving. On the bus transfer, overheard conversation with client as he paid for his - in Euros, INCLUDING assurance...worked out that the difference for me was £90 (comparing apples with apples). Discussed at front desk, agreed to cancel the "London" price paid and pay again locally in Euros - refund still not received a week later. If the difference was only a few pounds then not a problem (FX rates etc) but not £84 (the final difference). Surely pricing should be similar and the assurance option offered as important to know if this is in the price paid? One for management. Everything was fabulous. Bear Lodge is a fantastic slope side lodge with everything you need for the complete ski holiday. We stayed in Suite Baloo and were looked after by Mimi, who picked up the rhythm of how we holiday really quickly, and gave us exactly the service we wanted. Suite Baloo also has the most incredible views of the Mont Blanc Massif, and seeing the sun set over those majestic mountains is a great way to end the day. All of the VIP team were committed to putting their guests first, and you could tell that from the atmosphere in the lodge; everyone was having a great time. Arcs 1950 is by far the most attractive of all the Arcs, and while smaller than the rest, has everything you need from a ski village and is only a two minute wonder up the slope. We're booking for next year - there's no other option worth considering!

Accommodation, location, staff professionalism, knowledge, friendliness and approach were all excellent. The thing that absolutely made our experience with VIP stand out though was our host, Megan, who was simply wonderful in every way. I literally cannot praise her enough. The food was amazing. She was so accommodating and flexible to our needs. Our 2 boys really took to her and she was wonderful with them making them breakfasts to order and tailoring the evening meals to keep them fed and happy. Her knowledge of the resort and advice when we needed it was spot on. Afternoon cakes were delicious! Most of all though she was so friendly and welcoming and really made us all feel at home. First class service from an excellent member of your team. Thank you Megan. You made our holiday!

After missing a year this week has been amazing! The sun shone all week. The snow stayed decent. The food each night was delicious, breakfast of eggs, mushrooms and bacon was a great start to the day. Our hosts were great they worked their magic, all three were chatty and polite and some good music taste!

From start to finish we felt looked after by VIP Ski. Once we arrived in our chalet Gracie and Jac were superstars. They are professional, attentive, kind and great fun. They catered to our family’s needs and adapted our meals to suit us. We will be booking our trip for next year as soon as we get home today. Fingers crossed that we’ll have Gracie and Jac again next year. Well done VIP Ski, you provided a brilliant holiday experience.
