Ski Charities

For the last few years, our team of nannies have raised money for Katie’s Ski Tracks. They have raised approximately £1,000 each year, a very noble effort. This season they smashed all previous targets and raised a whopping €3127.57 (or roughly £2400). We’re thrilled that they have raised enough money this winter for one child to enjoy an amazing trip of a life time.

There are of course many, extremely worthy, skiing charities that have connections with UK snowsports. We’ve detailed some below, so if you could donate even a small amount it could help make the impossible possible, and change somebodies life forever…

Katie's Ski Tracks

Katie's Ski Tracks is a registered UK charity that takes disadvantaged children with life-threatening or life-limiting medical conditions, disability, or extreme social problems, on an adventure Skiing Holiday of a Lifetime to Italy - without their parents or carers.

Because of their conditions these youngsters are so often excluded from school and family holidays and for some, unfortunately, it will be the first and last holiday they will ever take.

Ski 4 Cancer

Ski 4 Cancer was set up by a group of skiing and snowboarding enthusiasts who have either recovered from cancer, or have lost a friend or close relative to cancer. Ski 4 Cancer provides alpine short-breaks for British families affected by cancer. The charity provides grants to UK based care institutions and support research into the positive effects of sport (e.g. skiing) and how it can help both prevent cancer and assist in recovery post diagnosis.

Skiing With Heroes

With guidance from established charities Help for Heroes and Battle Back, in 2012 a group of friends established Skiing with Heroes. This charity supports wounded soldiers through a specially designed ski-based development, mentoring and job-finding programme. Their ‘ski weeks’ and on-going rehabilitation programmes help wounded veterans regain confidence and lead them on a path to fitness, sustained wellbeing and then employment.

We can all make a difference…

With skiing regarded by many as a luxury sport, millions of people in the UK have not been fortunate enough to experience the mountains and skiing; the downhill adrenaline rush and the freedom that comes with it.

Indeed, we often take for granted that we are fit and healthy enough to be able to enjoy the sheer beauty and the therapeutic values that the mountains offer; the amazing place where any problems or worries always seem to vanish into insignificance.

There are many ski charities that organise trips for adults, children and families who may be suffering from illness or disability. Their work is truly inspirational and allows people who would not normally have the opportunity to enjoy a ski holiday, or who might think it is un-accessible to them, to experience the thrill and wonder of the mountains.
