Ever dreamed of getting paid to build snowmen, craft glittery masterpieces, or embark on a daily hot chocolate adventure? As a VIP SKI nanny, you can make that dream a reality, blending a love for childcare with breath-taking days in the snowy French Alps. Read on for an inside look at a day in the life of a VIP SKI Nanny and why this unique experience could be your best winter yet!
The chalet hosts leave at 6:45 am to prepare breakfast – and I’m glad to have a few more minutes in bed. Today, my day kicks off at 8:30, though start times can vary depending on the family’s plans. I’m looking after 5-year-old Freddie, excited for his first day of ski school, and his little sister Amy, who’s 3. They’re both bundles of energy and good company, though sometimes I have to channel my inner diplomat to keep the peace!
When I reach the chalet, Freddie is still in his pyjamas (classic!). I set him a “get-dressed race” against the clock, and soon we’re off to ski school, with even enough time for a game of eye-spy on the way.
Once Freddie heads off with his instructor, it’s back to the chalet where Amy and I get down to some serious baking. Our “masterpiece” might not meet VIP SKI’s usual presentation standards, but it’s full of Amy’s love and laughter! Later, we play with the dollhouse from my toybox and read her favourite Charlie and Lola book (again!) before heading outside to make snowcastles near the slopes.
After hearing about Freddie’s morning from his ski instructor, it’s time for a pizza-making lunch. While the kids decorate their pizzas, I’m on cheese-duty, trying to keep it on the pizza base instead of, well, everywhere else!
Once Amy’s down for a nap, Freddie and I settle in for some quiet puzzle time. Then it’s back to the snow, where we meet up with Ellie, another VIP SKI nanny, and her kids for an exciting trip up the mountain. The kids’ excitement is infectious as we “fly” over skiers below with our ‘magic’ passes. A quick picnic at the top makes for the perfect end to our adventure.
Back at the chalet, Amy proudly serves her cake creation to her parents while Freddie enthusiastically recounts his morning exploits. Before long, it’s storytime, and I’m all ears as Amy recounts our day’s highlights in her own special way.
There are a few tricks to the trade – calming tired kids, tackling tearful goodbyes, and managing glitter (and paint!) without redecorating the chalet. But not many jobs let you play in the January sunshine, work on your sledging skills, and enjoy a spontaneous crêpe trip – all in a day's work.
The best part? Seeing the week’s fun reflected in glowing reviews:
