Considering a Role as a VIP SKI Resort Manager? Here’s the Inside Scoop!

Imagine greeting fresh faces every Sunday, their excitement unmistakable as they glimpse the snow and their chalet for the week. As a VIP SKI Resort Manager, you’re at the heart of the guest experience - from their first sight of the mountains to the memories they’ll take home.

Sound rewarding? Here’s a closer look at what makes this job one-of-a-kind.

Sunday Morning: New Arrivals, New Adventures

Every Sunday starts bright and early (okay, very early) with the last guests departing and fresh ones arriving, eager to settle in. After some heavy lifting—like bed changes and deep cleaning—and maybe a quick coffee to fuel the day, you’re there to greet them with a smile. It’s all about creating the perfect first impression, one that lasts until they’re back on the coach, already planning their return.

A VIP SKI trip is more than a holiday; it’s a memory, an experience that your guests will cherish and share with friends. Your role? To make that experience unforgettable.

The Many Hats of a Resort Manager

Running a VIP resort means you’ll become a true jack of all trades. From tackling health and safety to fixing a wobbly toilet seat, you’ll handle it all with a dash of charm. In smaller resorts, like Morzine, with around 50 weekly guests across just a few chalets, you’ll get to know everyone by name, creating a close-knit, friendly atmosphere.

Your personal touch as Resort Manager is everything. A little friendly conversation or a quick “How’s everything going?” makes a big difference. Guests want to know that they can count on you, and addressing issues early keeps things smooth and stress-free for everyone.

A ‘Typical’ Week in the Life of a Resort Manager

The fun (and the challenge) lies in the fact that no week is truly typical. After meeting guests and handing out ski passes, you’ll drop by each chalet, checking in with the hosts, and helping out where needed—whether it’s handing out canapés or booking the perfect restaurant for the host’s night off. The best part? Getting to chat and make connections with people from all walks of life.

And it’s not just about the guests. A great manager is nothing without a motivated team, and that means being as supportive as you are proactive. Some of your team may be young and new to life abroad, others might bring more experience. As Resort Manager, you’ll be the boss, mentor, counselor, and sometimes, the social organizer. It’s a juggling act—one that could mean calling a host off the mountain to polish up a chalet or sharing a laugh over toffee vodka shots with the team after a job well done.

Why You’ll Love It

While this job takes patience, quick thinking, and a knack for people management, the rewards are worth it. There’s nothing like reading a glowing guest review about your team’s dedication and hard work. Those moments, when you realize that your hard work has created a place where both guests and team members feel at home, make it all worthwhile.
