How to use yoga to prepare for your ski holiday
Did you know that yoga boasts benefits which go far beyond the most popular ones such as relaxation and sway more towards skiing?
Lucky for us skiers yoga can be incredibly useful, especially before embarking on your annual chalet holiday, as it trains the body for skiing by helping to build up endurance, agility and strength!
Despite yoga and skiing being very different forms of fitness, they compliment each other by sharing many of the same movements and positions, benefitting us skiers pre-season, by helping to reduce the physical demands put on the body by the sport.
Yoga strikes a balance between strength and flexibility
In the quest to better understand the relationship between yoga and skiing; we’ve recently teamed up with the very talented fitness and yoga experts Georgina Spenceley and Shakira Akabusi. According to Shakira; ‘Yoga is not just about meditation and relaxation but also striking a balance between strength and flexibility’.
In a bid to get ski – fit both pros opt for utilising yoga to better their positions whilst skiing by paying particular focus on strengthening the legs, challenging the core and mobilising the spine in order to create results that will teach flexibility, balance and improve concentration.
